Business Manager

The purpose of this role

The role is designed to lead, build, engage, and motivate teams to achieve great outcomes. The role requires the incumbent to coach, mentor and develop team members, create a culture of high performance, and an environment where open and authentic conversations regularly occur.

Business Manager’s are given financial accountability for defined markets segments and are required to meet and exceed sales targets. The role requires the person to create and drive sales strategies to suit the market, and empower team members to be accountable for their results.

People Leadership
Creating an authentic and passionate culture with open dialogue, enabling people to be accountable for their work, whilst supporting career development, and recognises and celebrates success.

  • Set challenging objectives and measures for all team members
  • Hold continuous performance conversations with your team members to provide feedback, recognise successes, and improve performance where required.
  • Mentor, coach, and guide team members, tailoring the approach to suit the individual.

Team Performance
Accountable for the performance of their defined market segment.

  • Achievement of defined sales targets.
  • Ensure expenses are managed within budget.
  • Ensure customer service, customer acquisition, and customer retention targets are achieved.
  • Report and interpret P&L in line with revenue and team/BD targets.
  • Accepts responsibility for individual, team, or regional performance. Acts to resolve concerns or roadblocks to performance.

 

Effective Delivery
Recognises opportunities and acts efficiently at the appropriate moment and within given deadlines.

  • Takes personal responsibility for achieving team, regional or organisational objectives.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to get things done and quickly integrates key changes as they emerge.

  • Can supervise and monitor change. Initiates and takes corrective action where necessary to ensure a quality result.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships which build collaboration and deliver results, including:

Creating an external presence
Cultivating productive relationships which optimise market knowledge and enhance Ignite and reach.

  • Build a strong personal brand online to attract prospects and nurture relationships.
  • Attend industry events and functions where relevant in order to grow knowledge and build relationships.
  • Staying abreast of emerging trends and opportunities with current clients and targeted industry sectors.
  • Develop effective internal and external relationships to facilitate and share market knowledge.

Continuous Improvement
Improving processes and implementing structures, measuring success, and ensuring effective delivery of services.

  • Anticipates consequences in decision-making, including their impact on service delivery and function.
  • Anticipates, plans, and manages change within own team. Works to drive structural, team and functional efficiencies as they emerge.
  • Acts to resolve client queries and stakeholder concerns and maintains relationships for satisfactory commercial outcomes.
  • Drives internal collaboration and process efficiencies to execute client outcomes.

 

Sales Prospecting
Generate and cultivate sales leads by pursuing sales pipeline and engagement channels, including:

  • Monitors and makes enquiries on client development and pipeline, supports team members to grow and penetrate accounts. Generate job leads through recruitment activities such as cold calling, call cycle and pipeline management, running promotional campaigns and advertising materials etc.
  • Develop and agree client sales plans and prospect lists in line with team objectives.
  • Ensures team members approach sales prospects with adequate training, structure, and approach. Uses metrics to accurately pipeline and forecast sales activities amongst team.
  • Segment and profile market in terms of size, potential, hiring trends and prospective users of recruitment services.
  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting Resourcers and Associate Account Managers in relation to jobs and/or clients
