A LinkedIn survey in 2026 indicates that 59% of Australians plan to remain in their current job due to uncertainties in the job market. Those looking to shift careers must think carefully about the future of the occupation in the changing market, not just in terms of job security, but also earning potential. 

With the above in mind, we’ve collated the latest salary estimates across various industries to put together a list of the top 10 highest-paying jobs in Australia in 2026.

1. C-Suite Roles

The chief executive officer (CEO) or the managing director is the highest executive position in a corporate organisation, and takes up the number one position for highest paying role in Australia. C-suite roles are compensated accordingly in line with the responsibility of making decisions on the allocation of resources, direction of the corporation, and operating efficiency.

Managing directors earn salaries ranging from $350,000 to ~$750,000 depending on their organisation’s size. C-suite positions may also be awarded bonuses on top of their base salary for achieving key performance goals.

Job responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing corporate-level strategies to drive business growth across the organisation as a whole. 
  • Communicate and manage expectations from the board of directors and the organisation’s stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the organisation’s financial health and resources.

2. Investment Banker
